Safeco Field Hotels

Warm summer days, hot dogs and peanuts, the excitement of each pitch—the atmosphere of a baseball game is a welcome comfort to many. Safeco Field, home to the Seattle Mariners, is the ideal place to begin your trip when you visit the capital of the state of Washington. Safeco Field officially became home to the Seattle Mariners on July 15, 1999. It was named after the Safeco Corporation which bought the naming rights to the field for $40 million. The field, which sits on almost 20 acres of land, has the capacity to hold 47,116 guests. Safeco Field has a retractable roof which does not entirely enclose the stadium, yet allows for partial coverage and open-air circulation. It was built this way to withstand weather conditions, such as snowstorms and high winds.

An art collection in Safeco Field includes 43 baseball-related paintings, photographs, and prints. There is also one sculpture of an umpire proclaiming a player "safe" in the play.
